About the Dancer
Svetlana began her Bharatanatyam journey at the age of six under the guidance of Smt. Sandhya Radhakrishnan in Chicago. Over the years, she performed in numerous recitals, cultural events, and competitions—each performance shaping her growth as a dancer. What began as a childhood extracurricular soon evolved into a meaningful pursuit, and deepened further as she continued dancing through middle school. This passion ultimately led her to the path of Arangetram.
Svetlana extends her heartfelt gratitude to her Guru, Smt. Preethi Sathyanarayanan, whose insightful guidance and unwavering support have been instrumental in this journey. Under her Guru’s mentorship, Svetlana has not only refined her technique and confidence but also gained lifelong values through dance. She remains grateful to all her gurus, whose teachings continue to inspire every step she takes.
Svetlana is a Biochemistry and psychology major at Southern Methodist University. Dance has remained a grounding force, offering balance amidst her academic journey. At SMU, she continues to pursue her passion through Rang, the university’s Bollywood fusion dance team. Beyond dance, Svetlana is an avid musician—she has studied Carnatic vocal music for over a decade and also plays the keyboard and violin. She is currently involved in research at her university as she embarks on the pre-med track.
